Around Cars and Driveways
The majority of injuries involving children and cars occur when they are being carried as passengers. A number are often involved in crashes when they are on a road as a pedestrian or cyclist. There are also a small number of injuries caused when children are around vehicles in driveways, etc when their presence is not always apparent to the driver. Such incidents often result in tragic consequences.
What can you do?
- Always make sure you know where your children are
- Check around the vehicle before reversing
- Beware of blind spots and keep it slow
- Most driveways cross a recognised pavement before reaching the road – watch out for all pedestrians and cyclists.
