There are many sources of information on water safety and it is well worth refreshing your knowledge on all aspects of water safety so you can discuss the important issues with your children. Further information can also be found on the following websites:

Safe Water Sports offers expert advice on water sport safety that you can share with your children.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is the charity that saves lives at sea and information can be found on a number of safety and education programmes, to help people avoid getting into trouble at sea in the first place.

The Royal Life Saving Society UK is the drowning prevention charity and their mission statement is 'to inform and educate everyone in water safety and resuscitation and to increase annually the number of people trained in water rescue.'

Canals are accessible to all and present the opportunity to do a number of things such as looking at wildlife, walking, running, boating and fishing. Scottish Canals has a host of information on how we can all enjoy the canal network in Scotland.

Fire Service offers much information on water safety including at the swimming pool and water safety for ponds, lakes and rivers.
